SATURDAY 8TH June is GET OUTDOORS DAY. We need volunteers for an information Booth to answer questions. We expect the Puddle Duck fleet to be active on land and water and we will be demonstrating how to build Puddle Ducks, Optimists and SIX HOUR CANOES. We are planning to build these canoes at a mass Family Boat Building Event during the Regatta at lake Arthur on August 3rd and 4th.

This will be a good opportunity to get the word out about the Regatta which will include Sunfish Races, Puddle Duck Team races and a big Eco Friendly Quadratholon incorporating Cycling, Canoeing, running and Kayaking by teams of 5 to say nothing of the Saturday night Fireworks best seen over the water from a boat.

The Get Outdoors events will be based on the North Shore at the Lakeview swimming area starting at 10 am and continuing ’til 4 pm If you can help please give John a call at 724 625 9348 or email brimor@aol.com

Teams of three Puddle Ducks will compete in a series of races near the South Shore. The first member of each team will wait at the Start Line near the shore and carry a “Noodle” to the second member waiting by the first mark. They will in turn carry the “Noodle” to the third member waiting by the second mark who will then sail to the Finish line (or back to the first member who has returned meantime to he start if we decide to make it a two laps race) The course will be sailed in a counter clockwise direction (i.e. all marks to port) The Noodle must be carried outside the triangle formed by the marks. Now is the time to start forming your team possibly by getting friends without a PDRacer to start building one as soon as the weather gets warmer. A final relay race will be held on Sunday. Don’t forget to bring the rest of the family to enjoy the 2013 Lake Arthur Regatta this weekend.

The “Worlds” have moved on to Canada! But we’re still building Puddle Ducks (and Optimists, and other fun wooden sailing craft). So this site will now be used to share information about sailing and building opportunities in the Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, West Virginia Area.

Let us know if there are events we should promote. Come join us or invite others for a sail at Lake Arthur / Yellow Creek State Park / Pymatuning / Glendale Lake or wherever it is you call home.

Thanks to all who attended. Those of us from Moraine State Park enjoyed meeting, sailing with, and learning from our many visitors.   The second day of the regatta was rained out.  Reports of all three races will be posted here.
